5G
In this project, 5G is used for more efficient emergency response, public safety, and healthcare delivery. The research explores how:
- Drones can be deployed more safely and efficiently for medical transport of items such as blood samples and Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
- Real-time video support from a remote doctor to a nurse can be set up for the paramedical intervention teams (PITs) via a connected intervention vehicle equipped with multiple cameras, bodycams, and AR glasses. Additionally, a connected vehicle can exchange a lot of crucial data in real time.
- A better patient experience and support can be achieved using VR headsets linked to a 360-degree camera on location. This allows long-term sick children and palliative patients to participate in classes or family events as if they were physically present. Assistance by a nurse in the hospital during home-based kidney dialysis is also possible.
- A local, ultra-reliable communication network can be established to support emergency services in case of disasters or large events.
