Charlotte Larmuseau
Smart Tech Lab Manager
Charlotte is the coordinating manager of HITLAB, AI Lab and Energy Lab. Charlotte is responsible for networking with companies and organizations, monitoring and coordinating projects, and managing the different project teams. Charlotte obtained a master's degree in educational sciences (UGent), and a master-after-master in international business economics and policy (KU Leuven). She pursued a joint doctoral degree in pedagogical and computer sciences at KU Leuven and Université de Lille.
Erik Mannens
AI Strategist
Erik is an independant AI Strategist @ Howest, where he primarily helps Charlotte in translating the industrial business needs towards applied joint research projects. Furthermore, he co-sets out the future research directions in the AI-realm. As part-time professor Sustainable AI @ UAntwerp and Semantic Intelligence @ UGhent he also is the liaison towards the broader university landscape. He has just written the book “Sustainable AI” (sustainable-ai.be), the result of a decade of research into Ethical AI, Sustainable AI and AI Governance.
Ine Van der Cruyssen
HITLab Manager & Researcher
Ine is a researcher and experimental psychologist. In HIT Lab, she works as a project manager and UX researcher. After completing her Master's in Experimental Psychology at Ghent University, she pursued a PhD on lie detection using eye movements and virtual reality. With her expertise, she excels at integrating the human factor in technical projects.
Thibaut De Tandt
XR Developer
Thibaut de Tandt is an XR developer who always stays up-to-date with current technologies and uses various software for his development, such as Xcode, Unity, and Jetbrains Rider. He uses the Apple Vision Pro as an interface to test his projects. If you have any questions or issues with Apple products, he is the best person to help you.
Sam Van De Walle
XR Developer
Sam is an XR developer with expertise in many different areas. He is our most experienced developer and supports the others where possible. If you have any technical problem or issues he is probably the person to ask for help.
Nick Linde
3D Artist
Nick is a 3D artist responsable for the atmosphere for different XR/VR games and experiences. from modeling different items to very detailed room designs using Unity and Unreal Engine. If you want your idea to come true with interactive visual aspects, Nick is the right person to make your project visually complete.
Jessica Martin
Project Administrator
Jessica's focus is primarily on administration and figures. Jessica coordinates the financial follow-up and reporting obligations of the research projects within the Lab. In addition, she also supports the researchers with other administrative tasks related to their projects.
