The clinical (pediatric) ophthalmic practice is confronted daily with the limitations of available visual assessment and rehabilitation tools. Ophthalmologists consistently face challenges in obtaining reliable results from vision tests in children. Early detection and treatment of multiple visual disorders, however, are only effective during childhood. To bring treatments to market for children, the efficacy and safety of experimental drugs must be proven.
There is a need for reliable, sensitive, and engaging visual tests for children of various age groups and with different visual, cognitive, attention, and physical abilities. The Interactive Visual Assessment & Rehabilitation Tool (IVART) consists of three components within one digital environment. We believe these three components offer the flexibility needed to address shortcomings in current pediatric visual tests.
