About x-CITE

Why x-CITE matters

The project seeks to establish a new urban paradigm that merges physical and digital spaces, emphasizing ethical and interoperable use of virtual technologies to aid decision-making. One of the main outputs will be recommendations for a federated architecture that enhances the CitiVerse’s functionalities. By collaborating with industry partners and smart city networks, x-CITE contributes to the EU’s leadership in the CitiVerse, promoting open and ethical solutions.

The partnership consists of prominent smart cities, technology providers, and research institutions from Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Turkey, with practical applications in Tampere, Rotterdam, Flanders, and Istanbul. The project will also produce a suite of open CitiVerse solutions compatible with MIM Plus and develop a roadmap to ensure the sustainability and market readiness of these innovations. This initiative aligns with EU climate goals and community-focused smart city strategies, supporting a greener, more inclusive urban future.
